Service Pros Installation Group is a large, multi-state flooring installation company exclusively serving Lowe's Home Improvement - one of the most recognized home improvement retailers in the country. We are the team behind the in-home flooring installation experience that Lowe's customers count on, and we take that responsibility seriously. With operations spanning multiple states and a growing network of skilled flooring installers, we are committed to operational excellence, superior customer satisfaction, and the development of the people who make it all happen.
Summary
The Measure Technician serves as the primary in-home point of contact for flooring customers in the Maryland market. This role is responsible for conducting professional in-home measurements, presenting accurate project quotes, and guiding customers through product and installation options using a consultative, low-pressure sales approach. The Measure Tech represents SPIG and Lowe's in the customer's home and is a critical link between the sale and a successful installation.
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-home flooring measurements with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Prepare and present detailed project quotes to customers on-site.
  • Guide customers through product selections, installation options, and pricing using a soft, consultative selling approach.
  • Communicate clearly on the scope of work, timeline expectations, and next steps.
  • Coordinate with the Regional Operations Manager and scheduling team to manage daily appointment flow.
  • Complete required documentation and upload all job details accurately into the system of record.
  • Perform occasional store visits to support in-store customer needs or partner with Lowe's associates.
  • Represent SPIG and Lowe's with professionalism in every customer interaction.
  • Maintain vehicle, tools, and materials in clean, organized condition.

Requirements
Licensing Requirement - MHIC
Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) Sales License Required.
  • Candidates must obtain a valid MHIC Sales License within 30 days of hire.
  • Failure to obtain licensure within the required window may result in separation from employment.
  • SPIG will support the licensing process - details provided during onboarding.
  • Existing MHIC licensure is a strong differentiator in the selection process.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required
  • Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or GED.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write letters and prepare other documents as needed. Ability to read floor plans, blueprints, or basic construction drawings. Proofreads work.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure for basic algebraic and geometric calculations. Highly efficient at interpreting plans and specifications to produce quality estimates, including calculating square footage, waste factors, and material quantities.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills - Knowledge of computer workstations and peripheral equipment; knowledge of database, spreadsheet, email, and word processing software. Experience with software such as FloorSoft and Floor Wizard estimating software preferred, but not required.
  • Communication Skills - Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in English.
  • Self-Management - Ability to work independently, manage a daily appointment schedule, and self-report results.
  • Vision - Ability to view documents, multiple screens, and read handwritten documents and drive. The ability to see color is required for this position.
  • Reliable personal vehicle required - mileage reimbursement provided per company policy. Must be able to drive vehicle as well as meet company driving and insurance coverage requirements. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Road Warrior - Up to 75% travel.

Preferred
  • Prior experience in flooring, home improvement, or in-home sales
  • Familiarity with Lowe's installation programs or similar retail-driven service models
  • Existing MHIC Sales License

The work environment generally consists of indoor and cooled space. This position may also work remotely from home.
