Chimney Cricket & Hometown Hearth is looking for a motivated Chimney & Fireplace Apprentice to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to learn a skilled trade from experienced technicians while building a long-term career in the fireplace and chimney industry. No prior chimney experience is required-we're looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and pride in doing quality work.
As an apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced technicians and crew leaders, receiving hands-on training in chimney restoration, fireplace installations, inspections, repairs, and maintenance. Our structured training program combines field experience, classroom instruction, manufacturer training, and regular coaching to help you develop the skills needed to become a certified technician.
Responsibilities
  • Assist technicians with fireplace installations, chimney liner installations, chimney repairs, masonry restoration, and other field projects.
  • Learn proper installation techniques, safety procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Assist with chimney inspections, cleanings, fireplace service, and maintenance.
  • Safely use and maintain ladders, scaffolding, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Load and unload materials, prepare job sites, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Communicate professionally with customers while representing the company.
  • Learn to identify fireplace and chimney defects and understand recommended repair methods.
  • Complete company training, manufacturer training, and certification programs as assigned.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good condition.

Requirements
  • Construction, roofing, masonry, carpentry, HVAC, or mechanical experience is helpful but not required.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, and elevated work areas.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
