SUMMARY:  Under the direction of the Surgery Nurse Director. Provides direct patient care by assisting the Physician/Surgeon and Charge Nurse with patients. Assists surgeons during invasive and non-invasive procedures, anticipates surgeon’s needs, and hands surgical instruments to surgeon. The certified scrub tech prepares and organizes the operating room, cleans and sterilizes equipment, and maintains a sterile surgical environment. Communicates with Charge Nurse and staff about the patient’s condition and responds quickly and request assistance when changes occur in the care of the patient.

 EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Verifiable completion of an accredited program in surgical technology.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Current Texas C.S.T. Certificate preferred
