Job description

Material Handler - 2nd Shift

GRETNA, LA, US, 70053

Zatarain's, a leader in New Orleans cuisine owned by McCormick, is seeking a Material Handler on the 2nd Shift (1:30pm-10pm, Mon-Fri) at its facility located in Gretna, Louisiana. Essential Functions:
  • Work with dock personnel to insure effective operation of shipping dock activities.
  • Receive inbound finished goods from co-packers and off site storage facilities and perform required inventory control transactions.
  • Work with dock personnel to complete outbound loading orders.
  • Complete and process required inventory control transactions according to company/department standards including scanning and printing tickets with barcode equipment.
  • Transport and store materials in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties in the warehouse areas including sweeping, collecting trash and collecting damaged product.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner and insure the equipment is in good working order by checking and reporting equipment problems.
  • Follow all safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines
Other Responsibilities:
  • Work in other jobs positions under Materials Management as needed.
  • Accurately enters information into the time clock to record cost center changes, time in and time out.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft windows
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Must successfully complete safety courses and obtain OSHA certification
  • One year background in a warehouse environment preferred.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and perform simple math calculations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • Must be able to work in a dusty environment with strong odors.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to follow established procedures.
  • Must have common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.
  • Must be able to work overtime on a frequent basis and on weekends as required by scheduling/production demands.
