With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy.  About the role. McCain Foods is accepting applications for a General Maintenance Mechanic position, to work a 12-hour night shift at the Burley, Idaho plant. Plant maintenance is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance duties and mechanical repairs to operate, repair, adjust, install, rebuild, and fabricate various types of machinery and systems for the factory.  What you’ll be doing.  Performs functions that require that use of precise calculations and measurements. Communicates with equipment users to assess problem areas. Examines and evaluates problem areas and determines and initiates appropriate action. Communicates decisions concerning solutions with appropriate personnel. Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must have ability to effectively present information before groups of customers or employees. Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  What you’ll need to be successful.  Education required: 1 year certificate from college or technical school and 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Understanding, knowledge, and basic skill with welding, industrial mechanics, electronics, electrical, and plumbing. Packaging maintenance experience is preferred. Prior experience in a potato processing facility is a plus. Plumbing, welding, and electrical repairs; using technical tools, instruments, and other materials to operate, repair, adjust, install, rebuild and fabricate various types of machinery and systems for the factory. Utilizes diverse degrees of various technical skills; such as general maintenance, plumbing, welding and electrical/electronic skills. Assists and learns to perform maintenance work as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or the shift Lead Maintenance Mechanic to assist with repair and adjustment of processing equipment; changing and replacing belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, pumps, etc.
