Job description

MCA, your trusted advisor for wireless communications, data, and security, is seeking an experienced DAS Technician in the Richmond, VA area to support the In-Building Wireless Solutions (IWS) team in our fast-growing Data division.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Supporting Advanced/Lead Technicians during a project.
  • Demonstrating proficiency and quality during the installation of project-specific components and equipment that is consistent with manufacturer and company standards.
  • Assisting in the installation and support of various cable types (coaxial, fiber, Cat 5/6, etc.) in commercial and residential environments to meet desired quality standards.
  • Demonstrating the ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Demonstrating the ability to work professionally at all job sites.
  • Assisting in the completion of installations in a diverse range of buildings, including stadiums, motor speedways, hospitals, schools, office buildings, and multi-family homes.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work area with orderly tools.
  • Maintaining customer confidence by performing outstanding work.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • 1 year of technical experience, or a combination of related education/experience.
  • Willingness to learn new technology and design plans and bills of material.
  • Hands-on experience with project-specific OEMs.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to technologies in public safety and wireless communications and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings/schematics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, establish priorities, work independently as well as part of a team, and proceed with objectives with some supervision.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate professionally.
  • Proven track record of reliability, integrity, and responsibility.

YOUR ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear; utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.

On-call for critical systems, maintenance may be required. First shift hours Monday – Friday, with occasional 2nd or 3rd shift and weekends depending on project schedules.
