Rochester Regional Health (RRH) is seeking an exceptional physician executive to serve as System Executive Medical Director, Medicine, a rare senior leadership opportunity within one of New York States largest and most respected integrated health systems.

This role sits at the center of clinical performance, physician leadership, and enterprise execution at a moment when the opportunity to make a lasting impact has never been greater.

The Opportunity

The System Executive Medical Director, Medicine provides systemwide clinical leadership for the Medicine Service Line across Rochester Regional Healths multi-hospital enterprise. The role oversees more than 560 physicians and advanced practice providers across eight core medical and subspecialty divisions, two Internal Medicine residency programs, and four fellowship programs, spanning eight hospitals that include academic, community, and rural settings.

This is a highly selective search for a physician leader in Internal Medicine or an Internal Medicine subspecialtyincluding Pulmonary/Critical Care, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Allergy/Immunology/Rheumatology, Dermatology, and related fields with a distinguished record of clinical excellence and demonstrated success in service line or departmental leadership.

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a physician executive known for sound judgment, reliability, collaboration, and the ability to deliver consistent results within a complex system.

Role Scope & Impact

The System Executive Medical Director, Medicine is accountable for advancing integrated, high-quality medical services across the continuum of care, with responsibility for:

  • Establishing and maintaining standards for quality, patient safety, and professional practice
  • Advancing the systems Clinical Governance & Clinical Integration (CGCI) framework
  • Supporting and developing physician leaders while respecting appropriate clinical autonomy
  • Strengthening collaboration across physicians, nursing, operations, quality, and administrative partners
  • Driving clinical, operational, and financial performance aligned with system priorities
  • Serving as a key member of the senior physician leadership team alongside Executive Medical Directors for Surgery and other disciplines

There is a strong academic and educational component to the role, including leadership oversight of ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs and collaboration with teaching and research partners across the system.

  • Licensed in New York State or eligible for licensure in NYS
  • MBA or MHA preferred but not required
  • Actively practicing medicine
  • Minimum of 5 years as an attending physician
  • Minimum of 5 years in program, departmental, or service line leadership
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and interdisciplinary leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively with professionals at all levels of the organization

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation range for this role is $550,000$600,000, with flexibility based on experience and scope.
