Job description


Position Title: Senior Systems Engineer - Applications
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Senior Systems Engineer - Applications opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Application Management & Support:
    • Serve as the primary administrative resource for business applications supporting plant operations, including EAM/ERP and related enterprise systems, with ownership of the digital work execution/Dynamic Instructions application suite.
    • Plan, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise applications in Windows and Linux environments, including DI authoring and execution components.
    • Perform regular maintenance, including application patching, plugin updates, and configuration changes. Provide Tier 2/3 support, investigate and resolve application issues, and mentor staff on support for DI authoring, conversion, testing, and field execution usability issues.
  • Digital Instructions and Work Execution Enablement (DI/HyperService Specialty):
    • Lead the conversion of existing procedures and work instructions into computer-guided Dynamic Instructions, using platform conversion tooling, then optimize and enrich the content to fully leverage the digital paradigm via DI authoring tools.
    • Partner with procedure writers, planners, supervisors, and craft professionals to gather feedback and continuously optimize DI content for field performance, usability, and compliance.
    • Validate, test, and optimize digital procedures using platform testing/performance tools to support reliable execution in operations.
    • Develop and maintain governance friendly procedure/work package artifacts and system documentation that support controlled deployment and audit readiness (configuration, workflows, integrations, and customizations).
  • Integration & Optimization:
    • Support and optimize integration between enterprise systems and platforms such as IoT, GIS, SCADA, financial, and HR systems, including integration points needed to enable end to end digital work execution.
    • Implement automation for application deployment, configuration, and monitoring to improve reliability and efficiency.
    • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and prevent service degradation.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
    • Participate in business continuity planning, disaster recovery testing, and cybersecurity compliance efforts.
    • Support audits and regulatory compliance (e.g., NQA-1, FERC, NERC, SOX) by ensuring application controls are in place and functioning.
    • Develop and maintain system documentation, including configurations, workflows, integrations, and customizations.
  • Project Delivery:
    • Lead or contribute to system lifecycle initiatives, including selection, implementation, upgrades, and retirement, with accountability for DI/HyperService platform delivery outcomes.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure minimal operational disruption during application deployments and upgrades.
  • Other:
    • Strong communication skills are desired.
    • The candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 7+ years of experience managing enterprise or business applications, with at least 5 years administering ERP/EAM platforms in a utility, manufacturing, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of plant operations and business processes in regulated industries, ideally nuclear or utility sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/EAM systems such as Oracle, IBM Maximo, Asset Suite.
  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash), and integration tools (APIs, ETL, HyperService middleware).
  • Own and support the application stack for HyperService/DWEP, including services built on Node.js, Java, and hosted on Apache TomcatExperience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and ITIL processes.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to use digital tooling to convert, author, test, and optimize computer-based procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of procedure development, work package creation, and work process documentation within a regulated industry
  • Personable and highly collaborative.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong interest in technology and innovation, with a desire to leverage digital tools for process improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effectively engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience with nuclear grade procedures
  • Experience with cloud-hosted enterprise applications; experience with electronic work package, HyperService, and/or Digital Work Execution Platform preferred
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as FERC, NERC CIP, and NQA-1.
  • Travel Required: 0-5%.
