Job description

MAX Aerostructures is currently hiring a Sheet Metal Mechanic for 1st shift.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Safely operates the brake press, hydro press, sander, buffer, bench grinder and various hand tools.
  • Reads blueprints, sketches, mylars, and follows verbal instructions.  Assists in receiving and storing material and supplies.
  • Repairs and modifies equipment, with instructions from supervisor.  Keeps workplace clean and organized.
  • Documentation: Completion of work orders; identify time and material spent on project.  Performs occasional tasks outside of job description in support of the MAX Team’s mission.
  • Sweep floors, clean equipment and machines, take out shop garbage and recycling on a regular schedule.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, sequence of operations, and set up requirements
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required
  • Starts and observes operations to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance conditions and adjusts machine as required
  • Verifies conformance or finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years knowledge of blue prints, operating brake press and hydro press.
  • Previous hand forming experience is highly desirable.
