Job description

ABOUT THE JOB
International Business Operations are forward-deployed operators who travel frequently and/or relocate flexibly to solve high-priority ambiguous problems across the globe, including standing up new facilities, localizing production, and supporting acquisition diligence or acquisition implementation. This role demands exceptional judgement to operate with a high degree of agency and trust, paired with the communication skills and relationships-building to keep distant stakeholders aligned and decisions moving. You will work directly with Global Defense, Strategic Real Estate, Corporate Development and Division leadership to deliver ambitious outcomes against unreasonable timelines.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
In International Business Operations, you are the tip of the spear for Anduril's expansions outside the United States. You will be dropped into unfamiliar countries, cultures, and regulatory environments and be expected to frame the problem, build local trust, and deliver. While you will often work on a specific country or project, you will constantly translate between on-the-ground realities abroad and the functional teams at HQ who need to support you. You will do this while managing competing priorities across multiple time-zones.

  • Own international operational projects end-to-end, from definition, to solution-design, to implementation, to exit with clean transition of ownership. You will be handed ambiguous problems (stand up a facility in Asia; diligence a target in Europe, localize a product for tender with NATO) with little prescription on how to solve them, and you will be expected to define what "success" looks like and execute against it.
  • Forward-deploy to new geographies to stand up facilities, establish local presence, and build relationships with customers, partners, contractors, government stakeholders, and prospective hires. You will be Anduril's face on the ground before there is a local team to hand off to.
  • Partner closely with Strategic Real Estate, Global Defense, and Corporate Development on site selection, lease execution, facility buildout, tenders and proposals, localization and industrial participation planning, M&A diligence and post-acquisition operational integration.
  • Work on strategic problems, providing structure to ambiguity and shepherding cross-functional groups of stakeholders, often spread across 12+ time zones, towards informed decisions. The role will need you to couple first principles thinking with creative and iterative analysis to fully detail the impacts of potential decisions in unfamiliar global contexts, often jet-lagged.
  • Build and leverage a high-quality network across Anduril: Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal, Compliance, People, Security, NetEng, and more, to unblock yourself from abroad and pull the right expertise in at the right time.
  • Project manage across large, distributed groups of stakeholders, including C-suite executives, leading meetings across time zones, creating and managing large Slack channels, and wrangling a 15-person group spanning HQ, London, and Tokyo toward a solution. This role requires the ability to work across Anduril functions and across cultures, languages, and counterparties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willing and able to travel 75%+ internationally and/or relocate flexibly on short notice. A valid passport, the ability to obtain visas to a wide range of countries, and comfort operating for extended periods away from home are all required.
  • Strong agency and judgement to operate independently overseas. Mature enough to make calls in the moment with imperfect information, and mature enough not to go rogue. You know when to decide and when to escalate.
  • Builds trust and relationships across cultures, functions, and seniority levels. You can walk into a room with a foreign defense official, a local real estate broker, or an executive and leave with a relationship. High emotional intelligence is table stakes.
  • Comfortable constantly moving between big-picture strategy, fine details, and execution sometimes all in the same day, across a 14-hour economy flight. You can shape Anduril's approach to a country and also negotiate lease terms or source a local supplier.
  • A strong communicator across a huge dynamic range: working-level engineers, finance partners, foreign counterparts, and executives, usually across 12+ hour time zones. You over-communicate when operating far from HQ because you understand trust erodes with distance and silence.
  • Self-aware and coachable. You seek feedback and self-correct, especially important when you're operating far from the team and need to catch your own blind spots.
  • High ownership with the horsepower to juggle multiple (2-3+) international projects in parallel, at a rapid pace, reporting out progress regularly without dropping balls.
  • 6+ years of working experience with a minimum of 3+ years in a consulting, operations, finance, or product/program management role.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in a second language.
  • Previous experience living or working abroad.
  • Familiarity with export controls (e.g. ITAR/EAR, UK Strategic Export Control Lists, EU Dual-Use regulations, etc.) and the practical implications of operating in regulated international defense environments
  • Former startup founder or early-stage operator: you've built something from zero and know what it takes to create without a playbook.
  • Undergraduate degree in a STEM major.
