About the Role

The Information Governance Matter Mobility Review Analyst is an integral part of Latham's Global Information Governance (IG) team. This role will be responsible for conducting file release and file intake document reviews and supporting the workflow of a team that assists staff and attorneys across the firm with file transfers into and out of the firm, while providing centrally coordinated document review support to Practice Office IG Operations teams and assisting with matter mobility review activities, ensuring reviews are completed accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision. This role will be located in our Global Services Office in downtown Los Angeles. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence after the first two weeks of employment.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Developing plans, organizing files and work-flow, and assuming responsibility for the completion of review projects
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and ensuring completion of the matter mobility process; responding to questions, and providing guidance and training as needed
  • Exercising judgment in ensuring that firm policies and procedures are followed, and understanding how ethical and legal obligations impact the storage, organization, and transfer of data in a global environment
  • Advising attorneys, legal professionals and staff about information management best practices, data privacy and security issues, and other risk management issues
  • Communicating effectively with the Lateral Partner Onboarding team and other teams outside of IG that play a role in the Matter Mobility process; working with relevant Technology department personnel to properly configure and conduct IG-related reviews using litigation support applications
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Possess working knowledge of information governance, data security and privacy principles, best practices, and procedures
  • Display strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the physical and electronic resources of the department and firm

And have:

  • A bachelor's degree; three (3) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum of three (3) years' relevant records and information management experience, preferably at a law firm
  • Experience in other law firm positions having significant document organizational responsibilities may be considered in lieu of directly related Information Governance or Records experience
