Job description

Autism Behavior Spectrum Room Assistant

Working with students under teacher supervision in the Autism Behavior Spectrum room.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Working under the direction of the classroom teacher to:

  • Assist individual students with learning tasks assigned by the teacher.
  • Assist students in small group learning situations as assigned by the classroom teacher.
  • Supervise seat work while teacher is working with small groups.
  • Assist the teacher with other instruction-related tasks.
  • Assist students with make-up work.
  • Assist substitute teachers by providing necessary information on classroom routine during the regular teacher's absence.
  • Assist with student supervision outside the classroom in activities such as emergency drills and assemblies

Assist with any other duties directed by the school administrators as they would relate to instruction of students.

Minimum Training and Experience Required

Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or

Obtained an associate's degree (or higher); or

Met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).

This position earns $20.01 per hour.

Position is paid 26 times a year. So total pay is spread out over the summer months.

This position can be combined with driving a bus for full-time pay and benefits.
