STEAM/GIFTED TEACHER (K-8)
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New Jersey Teaching Certificate (Elementary Education and HQ in Art, Math or Science)

RESPONSIBLE TO:

  • Principal and Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction or other appropriately certificated administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The role of the STEAM Enrichment teacher is to provide STEAM lessons for students in grades K-8, be a resource of knowledge for staff regarding the integration of STEAM practices in their lessons, provide professional development and support to teachers regarding STEAM learning experiences, engage Academically Talented students in weekly lessons, and assist with curriculum development to integrate STEAM related standards into the curriculum. Job specifications include:

  • Demonstrate the ability to design, model and deliver rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula from Grades Pre-K through 8.
  • Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, use of technology to support teaching, STEAM and online tools.
  • Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of the connection between technology, computer science, and other fields of study. Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage STEAM learning experiences.
  • Demonstrate advanced competency regarding use of technology as an instructional tool.
  • Identify resources, plan, and design staff development activities to support professional growth in learning technologies.
  • Expert level of technology and 21st century learning, understanding and application.
  • Deep knowledge of effective instructional strategies, and inquiry based learning.
  • Strong familiarity with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, in particular Technology, Visual & Performing Arts and Career Ready Practices.
  • Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc).
  • Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.ย
