Position Summary

As a Paraprofessional (Teacher's Assistant) at AMS, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers and ensuring all students have the tools they need to succeed. Working side by side with highly skilled educators, you will provide individualized and small-group support to scholars, assist with classroom management, and help foster a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, eager to work directly with students, and considering a long-term career in teaching or school leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support lead Teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and transitions.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized learning plans.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and engagement.
  • Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure learning continues uninterrupted.
  • Prepare instructional materials, set up classroom resources, and assist with grading or documentation as directed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of students.
  • Model professionalism, respect, and high expectations in every interaction with students, staff, and families.

Qualifications & Competencies

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the paraprofessional exam, OR Associate's degree (or higher).
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or youth-focused setting.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
