Job Responsibilities The PRAMS intern will collaborate with the Child Health Epidemiology team to conduct an in-depth analysis of PRAMS data, with the specific focus determined by the intern's interests and in consultation with their academic advisor, if applicable. They will review relevant literature, synthesize information, and develop clear research questions.

The intern will create and implement an analytical plan, then summarize findings in a professional, scientific format, describing the strengths, limitations, public health applications, and future directions of the study. The internship will culminate in a StoryMap ready for present to shareholders and researchers, with the option to present findings in an abstract or article ready for submission to a peer-reviewed journal. The intern will gain hands-on experience in maternal and child health surveillance, strengthen their analytical and scientific writing skills, and deepen their understanding of data-driven policy and program development.

They will also benefit from mentorship and collaboration with experienced epidemiologists, contributing to meaningful research with potential for peer-reviewed publication, and developing skills in developing infographics. Duties: Perform a comprehensive literature review to synthesize existing research and inform the development of research questions. Develop a detailed analytical plan, including defining variables, specifying statistical methods, and identifying key outcomes.

Conduct statistical analyses of PRAMS data using SAS, SUDAAN, R, or other appropriate software to account for the complex survey design. Maintain organized documentation of the analytical process, including code, outputs, and references. Summarize findings in a clear, scientific, and professional manner, highlighting strengths, limitations, and future directions.

This includes producing a StoryMap and delivering an internal presentation. Participate in regular check-ins with the PRAMS Epidemiologist to review progress and receive feedback. Additional Information The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being.

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.
