POSITION OVERVIEW

Milliken's Allen Plant Chemical Facility is seeking a qualified individual to join its manufacturing team as a Summer Intern/Co-op. As an engineering summer intern at Milliken, you will have the opportunity to apply engineering and safety principles in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities consisting of Chemical Engineering knowledge to projects within the facility. Our specially selected projects, which will be performed under the guidance and assistance of experienced managers, have the effect of reducing waste, increasing efficiencies, streamlining process with LEAN, troubleshooting issues, identifying cost savings and/or updating procedures.

Students will be provided a housing allowance or mileage reimbursement based upon the worksite distance from residence. The standard work week consist of 40 hours, 8 AM - 5 PM.  Although the project will be individual in nature, students will collaborate with various departments and managers in the facility.  Interns will be provided a management sponsor to assist the student with the summer internship process and the project details. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete assigned project by end of each work session.
  • Seek quality improvements as it relates to project.
  • Seek cost reductions as it fits scope of project.
  • Actively participate in plant program/process.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Students must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program with a Chemical Engineering major and have competed their sophomore year.  Preference is given to rising seniors for our intern process. 
  • The summer intern session runs from late May until early August.  Students must be available for full-time hire during this time.
  • GPA requirement of 3.0
