Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to drive process optimization and continuous improvement in our plastics and polymers manufacturing operations. The role focuses on improving production efficiency, reducing waste, enhancing product quality, and implementing Lean and Kaizen methodologies. The ideal candidate combines solid engineering fundamentals with practical experience in polymer processing and manufacturing systems.
Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze current production processes and identify opportunities for improvement in throughput, yield, and quality within plastic and polymer operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma principles to reduce cycle times, defects, and costs.
  • Design, test, and implement process changes, control plans, and standard work to ensure robust and repeatable manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, quality, maintenance, R&D) to troubleshoot process issues and develop corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and training materials for operators and technicians.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on product or process failures and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support scale-up of new products and tooling from pilot to full production, including validation and capability studies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports to track improvement progress and communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Apply material science knowledge to address polymer-specific challenges such as molding, extrusion, thermal behavior, and contamination control.
  • Lead cost-reduction projects related to scrap reduction, energy efficiency, and resource optimization.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing process engineering, preferably in plastics, polymers, or related materials processing.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement methodologies; Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt) a plus.
  • Hands-on knowledge of polymer processing techniques (injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming) and associated tooling.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including experience with root cause analysis, DMAIC, FMEA, and statistical process control (SPC).
