Alaska Testlab (ATL) is based out of Anchorage and specializes in construction field testing, laboratory testing of soils, rock, aggregates, concrete, masonry and asphalt, special inspection services and other specialty services throughout Alaska.


We are currently recruiting Materials Testing Technicians for full time positions during the construction season.


This is an opportunity to make a difference in the construction world. Inspection and testing is required on many projects to verify construction is in accordance with plans and specifications to ensure the life/safety of the public.


As a Materials Testing Technician, you will be responsible for performing laboratory and field testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt in support of construction projects across the state. Work is in accordance with published standards. The position primarily utilizes a 40lb gauge to run tests on construction materials in the field. This position is also responsible for making concrete cylinders, collecting samples, and performs laboratory testing as needed.

Technicians are encouraged to obtain testing and inspection certifications and learn other types of testing to include ground penetrating radar, floor flatness, and concrete moisture testing. Travel to remote sites with additional compensation in Alaska is expected as well as opportunities to staff remote labs.

Education & Experience:


Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent. One to three years of related work experiences is preferred.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • ACI Certification (concrete sampling and field testing) preferred.
  • WAQTC Certification preferred.
  • Troxler Certification preferred.
