About The Role:

As the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Supervisor, you will manage lab personnel, oversee daily activities and projects, and ensure quality and safety in lab operations within a specific area. Your role includes scheduling assignments, maintaining equipment, coordinating training and certifications, and supporting business development. This position balances team leadership with a higher personal utilization goal, focusing on client relations, quality assurance, and operational efficiency. Additionally, you will contribute to the construction services and geotechnical team through field and project management roles.

  • Team Supervision: Oversee lab staff in testing, equipment maintenance, calibrations, and daily operations.
  • Project Management: Handle Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects, including proposal development, budgeting, scheduling, and report delivery.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Manage staff schedules and collaborate with Field Supervisors and Project Managers on project progress.
  • Training & Certification: Train employees on lab processes and ensure they maintain necessary certifications.

About You:

  • You have a minimum of 2 years of combined experience in geotechnical and construction materials testing and a supervisory, management, or leadership role
  • You are proficient in computer technology and mechanical testing equipment
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or other closely related technical fields, a plus but not required
  • You have active industry-related certifications, a plus:
    • American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
    • International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)

You Are Willing and Able to:

Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:

  • Working most of the time in the office, but might be requested to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Walking on a concrete/tile floor and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
  • Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of field/laboratory samples and equipment
  • Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
