Position Summary

Job Summary:

The Material Storage Clerk is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items from stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. This role ensures inventory accuracy, maintains proper storage conditions, and supports efficient material handling in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming materials, verify packing lists, and inspect items for damage or defects.
  • Accurately label and store materials in assigned storage locations.
  • Maintain inventory records using manual logs or inventory management systems.
  • Pick and prepare materials for production orders or shipments.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
  • Ensure storage areas are organized, clean, and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment (if certified).
  • Report inventory discrepancies, shortages, or damages to the supervisor.
  • Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials (if applicable).
  • Assist with loading/unloading trucks and coordinating with logistics staff.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, sorting, filtering, and maintaining inventory spreadsheets.
  • Previous warehouse, inventory, or material handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to accurately maintain inventory records and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Experience forklift operator.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
