Job description

Position Overview
The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Business Analyst Software Administrator with strong management and business intelligence skills to oversee operations of the department's medical cannabis inventory control software system that is built on the Salesforce platform. The system tracks medical cannabis from seed to the point of sale. The successful candidate will act as a primary subject matter expert and liaison between UDAF, the Medical Cannabis Industry,the Division of Technology Services (DTS), and third party contractors performing critical business-side configurations to optimize system performance.

We are looking for the right person to manage monitoring of software system performance, system enhancements, business analysis functions, system contracts, and the establishment of common data rules and standards. You will recommend business process enhancements to track medical cannabis from seed to sale, better meet customer needs, and help UDAF get the best value out of its software. As a member of the UDAF team, you will supervise, assign, and evaluate the work of teams and personnel. The Business Analyst Supervisor must have initiative and independent judgment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Plans and manages projects and/or programs. Writes (or discusses) project/program plan(s), recommendation(s) and/or finding(s).
  • Adapts automated system(s) to accommodate special and complex agency needs; designs or enhances agency unique automated systems to interface with existing systems as needed.
  • Anticipates the impact that new or modified software will have on existing standards and systems.
  • Recommends user level computer system enhancements to better meet customer needs.
  • Monitors system performance to ensure proper operation and identify possible problem areas.
  • Identifies problems or potential problem areas and recommends solutions.
  • Selects testing methods to evaluate the success of both software upgrades and modifications.
