How you'll make an impact:
As a Material Planner, you'll be based in-person and help ensure our plants have the right materials available at the right time to support production, service, and customer commitments. In this role, you'll partner closely with Procurement, Operations, Production Planning, Customer Service, and site teams to monitor material needs, support inventory planning, resolve supply issues, and help strengthen the flow of materials across the business.
What you'll do:
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor material availability to support plant production schedules and customer needs.
  • Partner with Procurement, Production Planning, Operations, Customer Service, and site leaders to understand material requirements, priorities, and potential constraints.
  • Review demand, inventory levels, supplier lead times, and production needs to identify potential shortages, overages, or timing concerns.
  • Support purchase planning and follow-up activities to help ensure materials are ordered, delivered, and available when needed.
  • Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders regarding material status, risks, changes, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate planning, inventory, and material-related information in company systems.
  • Help identify process improvements that strengthen material flow, reduce disruptions, and improve service to internal and external customers.

What it takes to succeed:
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in supply chain, business, operations, logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in material planning, procurement, buying, inventory management, production planning, customer service planning, or a related manufacturing support role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, plant operations, production flow, or internal business processes.
  • Ability to analyze information, manage priorities, follow up on details, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and locations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use planning, purchasing, inventory, or ERP systems.

Preferred Requirements
We value diverse experiences and perspectives-they help us innovate every day. While these qualifications are preferred, they're not required:
  • Prior experience as a Material Planner, Buyer, Buyer/Planner, Procurement Specialist, Production Planner, or similar supply chain role.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally within packaging, paperboard, folding carton, printing, or a related industry.
  • Familiarity with supplier lead times, inventory planning, material requirements planning, and production scheduling concepts.
  • Internal knowledge of Mill Rock Packaging plants, processes, products, customers, or systems.
  • Interest in growing into a broader supply chain, procurement, or planning career path.
