Responsibilities
Hamilton Company is looking for a Material Handler-Saw Operator to join the machine shop production team. They will perform a variety of tasks associated with organizations and movement of materials. These tasks include but are not limited to receiving, kitting and documenting the materials used or consumed by the machine shop.
Employee responsibilities include
  • Accountable for regular and consistent attendance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Adequate and timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Daily communication and documentation using Microsoft Office products.
  • Maintain area and equipment cleanliness/organization.
  • Report problems to Supervisor.

Material Handler responsibilities include
  • Operate and use area equipment in a safe consistent manner.
  • Interface with supervisor and/or area lead regarding production orders.
  • Complete daily documentation regarding production orders, material counts and area maintenance.
  • Document material consumption to productions orders.
  • Package, label and transport material to its next production sequence.
  • Receive and organize new material shipments.
  • Empty and rotate machine shop chip bins.
  • Operate band saw or circular saw to cut materials to length.
  • Document and adjust inventory of material and consumables.
  • Interface with the planning department and/or production supervisors regarding production orders that exceed the quantity of materials in stock.

Qualifications
  • A team player who collaborates.
  • Must possess competent verbal and written communication skills as required to interface with other employees and company personnel in a service function.
  • Must be adaptable to changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Must demonstrate excellent troubleshooting techniques and critical thinking skills.
  • Competent in maintaining databases or archives of production orders and inventory.
  • Consistent adherence to established procedures.
  • Experience or exposure to the following equipment and machines:
    • Common Equipment Used
      • Measuring tapes
      • Roller carts
      • Pallets
      • Pallet Jacks
      • Fork lifts
    • Machines
      • Kardex Material Storage system
      • Circular Saw - Behringer Eisle VA-L 500E
      • Band Saw
      • Disc Sander

Education/Experience
  • Must have High School diploma or GED.
  • Fork lift certification preferred.
  • Mechanical experience and aptitude preferred.
