Job description

OpTek Systems is a global supplier of laser processing tools and sub-contract laser machining services.
Role Purpose: Engaged in expediting flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments of industrial plant by performing the following duties and other duties as assigned:
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Move jobs and work-in-process throughout the plant to expedite flow
  • Pull parts and hardware for production purposes as needed per schedule.
  • Maintain KANBANs based on production schedule.
  • Handle job processes: issue materials, stock finished goods, other as needed.

Provide intermediate packaging to operations and final packaging for shipment
  • Supply packaging materials and assembled packaging to work areas.
  • Package parts for protection during shipment.
  • Maintain/Create packing instructions for general and customer-specific needs.

Maintain inventory of parts, materials, packaging and supplies
  • Receive items related to customer orders. This includes product status cards, CSI (ERP system) receiving, and storing in allocated location.
  • Control entry/exit to storeroom and access to all inventory.
  • Keep records of inventory transactions and monitor inventory levels.
  • Perform cycle counts at frequency sufficient for 2 total counts per year.
  • Review inventory variances, research & resolve with Ops Supervisor & Customer/Purchasing Mgr.
  • Assist in processing RMA returns and Spare Parts.

Expedite shipping to support On-Time-Delivery goals
  • Ship finished goods and any customer orders.
  • Prepare outside vendor shipments as required.
  • Assist in preparation of all shipment paperwork including: C.S.I. packer, Import/Export docs, Letter of Instruction (Int'l shipments), and labels.
  • Communicate shipping/tracking information to customer.

General
  • Work safely as a priority.
  • Follow standardized procedures.
  • Identify and propose improved procedures to increase efficiency.
  • Assist with data entry and clerical support in areas such as Purchase orders and Customer orders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED and six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
  • Experience with expediting and scheduling.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • Familiarity with pull and KANBAN Systems.
