A leading multi-residential plumbing subcontractor is seeking a bilingual (English & Spanish) Material Manager to join their team based in Carson, CA. The experienced/ Materials Manager will effectively oversee and manage all Materials activities, including, Inventory Control and Manufacturing. Through ongoing analysis and material management skills, will proactively lead and support the Company's short and long-term production goals.

The experienced/ Materials Manager will effectively oversee and manage all Materials activities, including, Inventory Control and Manufacturing. Through ongoing analysis and material management skills, will proactively lead and support the Company's short and long-term production goals.


Primary Duties:

  • Plan and oversee material movement through production cycle
  • Set up and manage Material production control system.
  • Demand planning forecast -Collect requirements from the production department and manages the process of placing Purchase Requests (Water, Gas and NH) for all needed materials and this includes all follow-up activities to ensure that needed materials arrive on time as scheduled.
  • Supervise Tool Management functions
  • Manage all activities of Cycle counting and to the Annual Physical Inventory-planning/execution/Training/reconciliation.
  • Develops and implements programs to establish cost-savings initiatives to achieve specific department metrics
  • Serves as a cross-functional team member in cost reduction and continuous improvement by working with Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Identify the reason for the extra consumption of the raw material by collecting information from the production department.
  • Identifies the emergency requirements of the materials and arranges supplies for the same
  • Sets up Min/Max, Kanban, and similar programs as appropriate activities with all key suppliers
  • Development KPI Metrix to manage and implement Continuous improvement opportunities.


Secondary Duties:

  • Enter data into the database and making changes in them periodically
  • Participate in meetings with the Engineering, Project Management and Safety departments.
  • Provide training to the juniors and the less experienced associates.
  • Answer the questions of senior executives and directors of the company



Skills Required by Materials Manager:

  • 5+ years' experience in Materials Management/Operations field in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Materials, Industrial Engineering.
  • Continuous Improvement Planning
  • Should have good negotiating skills and verbal and written communication skills
  • Skillful in planning and analyzing the requirements of the production department
  • Ability to design specifications for the raw materials to be ordered
  • Well-versed with the traditional as well as advanced methods used in inventory control
  • Proficient in using computer, printers, etc.
