Summary

The Ready Mix Dispatcher is responsible for assisting in the management and efficient movement of orders within a central dispatch environment while effectively communicating with customers and other dispatchers in order to meet the needs of the market area.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.
  • Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.
  • Develop an extensive working relationship with customers to address customer needs, provide excellent customer service, and promote PBM brand awareness.  
  • Have extensive knowledge of PB Materials products and services to better supply the needs of our customers. Be able to quote prices, calculate quantities needed, provide information on additives, and schedule customer jobs timely and efficiently.
  • Receive and document clear and concise instructions from customers regarding concrete mix, delivery address and conditions. Prepare delivery tickets and related shipping documents.
  • Ensure the customer understands all relevant company policies such as will calls, load limits, additional products ordered, extra charges, payment expectations, and our driver's responsibilities.
  • Schedule orders at the appropriate batch plant and verify all data is correct for the requested delivery to maximize daily productivity.
  • Monitor the daily delivery schedule, notify the necessary staff about any deviations or issues with a job.
  • Communicate clearly with drivers and others over the two-way radio according to Federal Communication Commission regulations and company policy.
  • Assign projects to drivers, prioritize loading of ready-mix trucks with customer's orders, give clear route instructions to drivers and instruct drivers of delivery requirements and job site conditions.
  • Monitor driver hours of service to ensure compliance with all DOT rules and requirements.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.
  • Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.
  • Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Dispatcher I -2 years Dispatch experience; Plant Volume up to 50k CY
  • Dispatcher II -5 years Dispatch experience; Plant Volume 50k - 75k CY
  • Dispatcher III -10 years Dispatch experience; Plant Volume 75k+ CY
  • A minimum of 1 year dispatch experience with 1 year of dispatching ready mix preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Microsoft Office Applications experience required

 PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be drug free.
  • Must be able to:
  • Lift or carry up to 20 pounds from floor to 3' - 5' occasionally,
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds frequently,
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time with occasional sitting,
  • Climb up and down ladders occasionally,
  • Use hands, fingers, and feet to operate heavy construction machinery,
  • Travel safely while walking and while operating machinery over uneven terrain or in confined spaces,
  • See, hear, and respond to verbal, visual, and written instructions and to moving heavy construction machinery,
  • Wear proper protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves,
  • Observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating heavy construction machinery,
  • Continually work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions, 
  • Work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally, 
  • Environment will vary from outdoors with varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at operating sites to a normal office environment.Â
