Material Handler
We are searching for an experienced Material Handler at our Frederick, Maryland facility.
Job Summary: The Material Handler and receiver is responsible for the efficient movement, storage, and control of materials throughout the facility. This role involves receiving shipments, verifying inventory, delivering materials to production areas, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The Material Handler ensures smooth and timely flow of materials to support production processes while adhering to safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions/duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties/functions may be added or assigned.
  • Collaboratewith procurement staff to list expected deliveries.
  • Receiveshipments, verify packages according to order and invoices and sign paperworkupon receipt.
  • Unloadpackages from incoming trucks and inspecting contents to ensure they areundamaged and hold driver accountable prior to unloading/end of transaction.
  • Contactsupplier or shipper if a mistake is identified and manage the return ofunsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements.
  • Labeldeliveries and allocate them to their designated place.
  • Maintainaccurate records and assist in inventory control by identifying, labeling, andplacing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory.
  • Locatematerials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listedon production orders.
  • Maintainin-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials andsupplies.
  • Documentmaterials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location ofunits.
  • Receivecredit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials andsupplies code and lot number and quantity, placing materials in stock.
  • Preparefinished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading,and securing product.
  • Documentingproduct shipment by recording units shipped and maintaining material-handlingequipment by completingpre-use inspections, making operator repairs.
  • Responsiblefor supporting and complying with the company's Integrated Management System,which aligns with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001(Health and Safety) standards.
  • Mustfollow established procedures, contribute to continual improvement, and promotea culture of quality, environmental responsibility, and workplace safety in allaspects of their work.
  • Maintainregular and reliable attendance.
  • Otherduties as assigned.
    Safety Requirements:
    • Comply with the company safety policies and requirements.
    • Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
    • Attend scheduled safety training.
    • Actively support the organization's efforts to meet or exceed safety goals and plans.
    • Recommend improved safety practices.
    • Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
    • Adheres to and ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.

Minimum Requirements: (include education, experience, special skills, licenses and/or certifications required. The list below represents the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Two (2) years related material handler or receiving clerk experience and or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with inventory control or inventory management.
• Basic math and recording abilities.
• Organized, deadline-oriented, able to lift boxes and move pallets/crates.
• Prior forklift operation experience or the ability to obtain forklift certification within a reasonable timeframe.
• Must be able to read and comprehend all documentation in English.
• Working knowledge of ERP computer programs for entering data. Preferred: Infor experience.
Physical Requirements - Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations:
• Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks over an 8-hour period.
• The job is performed under occasional temperature variations and in a manufacturing production environment.
• Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees.
• The ability to lift to 50 - 75 lbs. is required.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes (steel or composite toe), and any other PPE applicable to the position.
