Job description

Essential Functions:
  • Prepares patients for CT procedures.
  • Obtains images following established procedures for patient care and safety under direction of physician.
  • Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials
  • Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
  • Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical supplies.
  • Burns imaging CD's.
  • Must be willing to answer phones.
  • Perform basic patient care and willing to train in other areas.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and protocols, PACS, RIS.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform CT testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge or CT equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality as directed by HIPAA standards.
  • Knowledge of medical chart reporting and records.
  • Knowledge of clinic/medical practice procedures related to all medical operations.
  • Must be skilled in customer service and have a pleasant and courteous demeanor while dealing with all patients and callers.
  • Must be well organized and detail organized and be able to work independently without much supervision.
  • Must have skills in critical thinking, communication, influence and decision making.
  • Must have the ability to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team.
  • Must have computer skills

Mental/Physical Requirements:
  • Combination of walking, bending, reaching, lifting, transferring activities.
  • Must be able to use correct body mechanics to assist patients appropriately.
  • Occasional stress from multiple requests.

Qualifications
Education:
Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology (Bachelor's degree preferred)
Requirements:
Must have State of Tennessee Registered Radiologic Technologist x-ray license.
Must possess valid American Registry Radiologic Technologist and CT certification
