The TLC-ART* Program (http://depts.washington.edu/tlcart/) in the department of Pharmaceutics at the UW School of Pharmacy has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist 3 with significant hands-on and project management experience to advance long-acting and targeted therapeutic development in HIV and cancer.

  • (Targeted, Long-acting, & Combination Anti-Retroviral Therapy)

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prioritize, plan, and analyze project objectives to ensure their translation into experiments that advance the program
  • Provide hands-on experimentation on projects, research, and administration
  • Lead staff and students with project management skills to maintain efficient operations
  • Communicate in a timely and appropriate manner in both directions with team members and leadership
  • Overall laboratory structure, training requirements, operations, safety, and compliance

Requirements:

  • MS or equivalent professional degree in biomedical and biophysical sciences (i.e., Pharmaceutical Sciences, biology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, or virology)
  • Expertise and 3-5 years of experience in biomedical research
  • Expertise in controlled experimental designs, bioanalytical assays and quantitative approaches to data analysis, using the computer programs such as excel, prism
  • Prior experience with laboratory ordering and supply management

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.

Desired:

  • PhD with proven productivity in biomedical sciences preferred
  • Expertise and background in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, and bioanalytical assays including mass spectrometry, clinical pharmacology and toxicology
  • Experience with regulatory writing and submissions
  • Ability to work with investigators across disciplines
  • Ability to set priorities in multiple projects within an interdisciplinary team
  • Project Management certification and experience

Conditions of Employment:

Ability to work independently and lead a team of learners and researchers toward a common objectives. Work schedule may allow some flexibility according to program need and sometime may include beyond normal work hours and weekends.
