The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applications for a Research Scientist. The Research Scientist will specialize in data management, bioarchiving, advanced 3D cell cultures. The successful candidate will apply organoid culturing techniques and computational tools to help advance various translational and comparative oncology projects in the lab. Person will be analytical individual with a background in biomedical sciences/veterinary medicine, eager to take on new challenges as we build a collaborative network of researchers and a sample biobank and initiatives for the Canine Bladder Cancer Consortium. A key aspect of this role is the ability to collaborate across departments and institutions, serving as a crucial link among scientists, clinicians, veterinarians, technicians, and dog owners.
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter, comfortable communicating with people of various backgrounds via video calls and various digital platforms. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have a background in advanced, 3D cell culture techniques and various canine-focused outcome analyses, including ELISA, RNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, Immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
Additional Information:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a scientific or technical field; experience with relational databases and developing SQL queries; 2 or more years of experience in biomedical sciences/veterinary medicine; experience in advanced 3-organoid cell culture techniques
Desired Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience coding in R or another statistical language; demonstrated interest in life science/veterinary research; strong motivation for/experience in project management.
