Job description
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) in Dallas, TX invites applications for a full-time tenured/tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We seek applications from individuals with research focus on biodata engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), data science and data curation for medical applications. Highly qualified senior postdoctoral fellows with outstanding publications and extramural research funding may be eligible for UTSW's prestigious Endowed Scholars program and are strongly encouraged to apply.
We are especially interested in candidates who will provide inspirational leadership in research and initiate collaborative opportunities across the medical center. BME faculty work closely with clinical and basic research faculty in the highly collaborative UTSW Medical Center environment translating new technologies into medical solutions. All faculty members are expected to be enthusiastic mentors to trainees and actively engage in the teaching mission of the department.
Responsibilities
Successful candidates will develop an innovative research program that integrates medical data (imaging, diagnostics, pathology, omics, and related data sets) to predict, monitor and improve human health. The department is particularly interested in the application of AI/ML to functional neuroimaging, biomedical imaging speech and text, and mining clinical data. Candidates with research focus on system data science will work closely with biomedical engineers to establish a program on biodata engineering.
This research focused position will include responsibility for teaching graduate students and mentoring trainees. Specific focus areas of research are open but may include application of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science.
