Overview:

The Master Resilience Trainer - Performance Expert (MRT-PE) plays a vital role in strengthening the physical and psychological resilience, performance, and readiness of Soldiers, Unit Leaders, Families, and Department of the Army (DA) Civilians. MRT-PEs deliver performance enhancement and resilience training rooted in sport and performance psychology, tailored to the unique demands of military life.


This position supports the Army's Ready and Resilient (R2) Program by teaching mental skills and performance psychology techniques in both group and individual settings. MRT-PEs serve as expert consultants during field exercises, develop and deliver tailored training programs, and support continuous evaluation and improvement of the R2 Program.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging and evidence-based instruction in mental skills, resilience, and performance enhancement (e.g., confidence building, attention control, energy management, goal setting, imagery, and team building).
  • Facilitate group workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, and unit-level trainings.
  • Support training impact assessments and provide After Action Reviews (AARs), surveys, and analysis reports.
  • Serve as a consultant during training exercises and field operations, supporting leaders and service members in applying psychological skills to tactical and technical performance.
  • Develop and adapt course materials to meet unit-specific objectives.
  • Conduct training intake, needs analysis, and coordinate logistics for training events.
  • Provide tailored support to Families and Civilians living and working in high-demand environments.
  • Maintain records of trainings, observe peer instructors, and offer constructive feedback.
  • Participate in program evaluation, operational improvement initiatives, and professional development.
  • Assist with high-level briefings and provide overviews to leadership, VIPs, and stakeholders.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Counseling Education, Coaching Education, or Kinesiology (with a specialization in sport and/or performance psychology).
  • Prior teaching or coaching experience, preferably with military or DoD personnel.
  • Successful completion of the Army's Master Resilience Training Course (MRTC) and certification as an Army Performance Expert.
  • Strong knowledge of Army structure, policies, and operations.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general office equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, teaching, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to travel and work in diverse environments, including field settings and private residences.
  • Physically active role: ability to lift up to 40 lbs, sit or kneel on the floor, and conduct physical demonstrations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Membership or certification in a professional association (e.g., AASP, CMPC, ABSP).
  • Experience as a service member, DoD civilian, or military dependent.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in resilience or performance-based training.
  • Familiarity with Army doctrine related to developmental counseling, climate building, and leader development.
