Job Description

Olsson is seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer to join our Federal Engineering & Design Team. This role independently performs standard electrical engineering techniques and procedures while applying professional judgment to adapt and modify designs as needed. The Engineer receives direction on assignment objectives and complex features and is responsible for executing work using established plans, standards, and federal requirements.

This position contributes to the development of purposeful, high-quality electrical designs that support federal clients, including military, government, and mission-critical facilities. The Engineer collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, code-compliant, and constructible solutions while supporting project scope, schedule, and budget.

As part of Olsson's Federal Engineering & Design Team, this role plays an important part in delivering projects that serve national interests and improve the built environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs electrical engineering duties related to the evaluation, design, and documentation of electrical systems for small to large-scale federal projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and related building systems.
  • Applies standard electrical engineering techniques, methods, and procedures to develop constructible, code-compliant designs while evaluating and proposing minor adaptations to meet project-specific needs.
  • Prepares electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates in accordance with applicable codes, federal standards, and agency requirements.
  • Assists with preparation and coordination of project documents and maintains awareness of project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Coordinates electrical design elements with other engineering disciplines and internal project teams to support integrated project outcomes.
  • Communicates project development and progress with project managers and may participate in coordination efforts with federal clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Performs process design calculations, analyzes engineering data, and supports feasibility evaluations for proposed electrical systems.
  • Enters, maintains, and updates project information and documentation within Olsson's project management systems in accordance with the firm's Quality Management Program.
  • Diagnoses and assists in resolving technical design issues and supports quality assurance and quality control processes throughout project execution.
  • May provide technical guidance and oversight to less experienced engineers or technical staff as assigned.
  • Travel and participation in project charrettes, design reviews, and value engineering conferences.
  • May travel to project sites and work in varying terrain and weather conditions during different stages of construction.
