The Impact You'll Make in this Role

The Master Data Management (MDM) Operations Manager will lead MDM strategy activities, aligning functional priorities across with enterprise objectives, with a direct understand of how Master Data creates value for 3M. This role will work closely with MDM leadership as well as 3M function leadership to assess needs, bring external best practices, identify strategic opportunities to drive value with Master Data, and help translate long-term goals into actionable plans for the Master Data Management discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure 3M derives value from Master Data.
  • Partner with 3M MDM and 3M functional leaders to develop and refine strategic priorities, annual plans, and multi-year roadmaps.
  • Conduct internal and external analysis to identify trends, risks, opportunities, best practices, and business implications affecting Master Data Management.
  • Support strategic initiative planning, including scope definition, milestones, dependencies, and success metrics.
  • Develop executive-ready presentations, reports, and briefing materials for leadership reviews and planning sessions.
  • Track progress against strategic goals and key performance indicators, highlighting risks and recommending corrective actions where needed.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment across 3M teams, stakeholders, and enterprise priorities.
  • Support budgeting and resource planning discussions by connecting investments to strategic objectives.
  • Perform scenario analysis and provide insights to support decision-making on organizational priorities and strategic trade-offs.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as required.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Strategy, Economics, Operations, Data Science (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Seven (7) years of experience in business operations, consulting, master data management in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree in business administration or related discipline.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in business operations, consulting, master data management or a related field.
  • Experience working in a matrixed, global organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting data and turning insights into recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating presentations for senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across functions and organizational levels.

Work location:

  • This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation: May be authorized
