Job description

Overview

Join our team as a Data Governance Analyst and assist the Data Governance Manager with development and implementation of robust data governance policies, standards, and practices across our organization. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, integrity, and security of our data assets, supporting data-driven decision-making, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

This is an in-office opportunity in our Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) Office.  This is not a remote position. 

Responsibilities
  • Learn & facilitate ongoing maintenance of key Data Management software.  Become a subject matter expert in the firm's data documentation approach.  Assist with metadata upkeep via Microsoft Excel spreadsheet imports, web interface updates & AI enhancements.
  • Collaborate with business & IT partners to understand user needs in line with Data Management system capabilities.  Prioritize & implement software enhancements with development vendors.
  • Assist Data Governance Manager with program implementation goals including the following:
    • Data Governance Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Data Quality Management: Define and monitor data quality metrics and KPIs. Implement processes and tools to maintain data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Address data quality issues in collaboration with data owners.
    • Data Policies and Compliance: Ensure compliance with data-related regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA). Develop and enforce data policies concerning access, usage, and retention.
    • Data Stewardship: Coordinate team of data stewards to oversee governance activities and ensure data integrity and security.
    • Data Architecture and Integration: Collaborate with IT to align data architecture with governance goals. Oversee data integration processes to ensure consistency across systems.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with business units to understand data needs and promote a data-driven culture. Advocate for the importance of data governance throughout the organization.
    • Technology and Tools: Evaluate and implement data governance tools and technologies to enhance governance initiatives. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of professional experience in data, operations, or a related business/technical role.
  • Experience creating & formatting Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
  • Experience gathering business requirements and working directly with stakeholders. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with data management practices & data concepts
  • Experience or familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Codex, or similar technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI datasets and data modeling concepts.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data architecture and data modeling principles.
