School Summary:

North Carolina Connections Academy is a public virtual charter school serving students across the state. Position Summary:

The Data Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of student data in accordance with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) requirements and school policies. This role is based in the Durham office.

Under the general supervision of the school administration team, the Data Manager performs complex technical and data management functions within the student information system (SIS). This includes maintaining and auditing student records such as enrollment, attendance, schedules, grades, demographics, and immunization data.

The Data Manager supports school operations by processing large-scale data requests, including extracting, validating, cleaning, and organizing data to ensure accuracy and usability. Through the use of the telephone, internet, and various curriculum and communication tools, the role requires ongoing collaboration with administrators, teachers, staff, and other school stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, maintain data quality, and support reporting and compliance needs.

Key Responsibilities: 

       Manage and maintain all student and staff records within the student information system (SIS), including enrollment, registration, scheduling, attendance, grades, demographics, and compliance data

      Oversee student, staff, and parent registration processes, ensuring accurate data collection and timely updates to contact information

      Support development, maintenance, and validation of the school master schedule for students and staff, including creation and deletion of course sections

      Serve as the primary point of support for school staff using SIS platforms (e.g., Infinite Campus) and gradebook systems, including troubleshooting and issue resolution

      Provide training, guidance, and communication to staff on SIS functionality, data procedures, and best practices

      Coordinate user access, roles, and security within SIS systems in collaboration with school administration

      Generate, validate, and analyze reports for school leadership, district administrators, and NCDPI, ensuring data accuracy and usability

      Prepare and maintain customized datasets and reports related to attendance, grades, discipline, scheduling, medical records, and program participation

      Ensure compliance with Uniform Education Reporting System (UERS) requirements and support state reporting processes

      Conduct data validation and audit preparation activities, ensuring readiness for internal and external audits

      Maintain working knowledge of student accounting procedures, regulatory requirements, and source data integrity

      Support scheduling and course placement processes in collaboration with administrators and counselors

      Complete special projects and data requests assigned by school leadership or NCDPI

      Provide ongoing technical support to staff for SIS-related tools and workflows

        Perform other related duties, as assigned

Requirements:

      Associates degree or high school diploma and job related experience required.

      Bachelors degree in computer science, education, business administration, or information systems preferred.

      Minimum of two years of experience with data entry, data systems, or automated office systems preferred.

      Experience with student information systems or school data environments preferred.

      Experience with Infinite Campus SIS preferred.

      Strong proficiency in technology, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.

      Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

      Ability to manage large datasets with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

      Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

      Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

        Customer-focused mindset and high level of flexibility.

Additional Requirements:

        Must reside within a commutable distance to Durham, NC.

      Valid driver’s license or state-issued ID.

      Ability to work full-time (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday).

      Ability to work in an office environment and use standard office equipment.

      Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds, as needed.

      Willingness to travel for school events, training, and testing, as needed (including occasional overnight travel).

      Ability to work occasional evenings to support families.
