Job description

Our client is an established engineering firm seeking a Structural Engineer, P.E. to lead structural design and analysis on industrial projects in Cary, NC. The ideal candidate brings expertise across steel, concrete, masonry, and light gauge metal, and is comfortable contributing at every phase - from modeling and drafting through construction coordination. This role offers varied, technically challenging work within a collaborative team environment.
Job Responsibilities -
- Produce design calculations, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for both new and retrofit projects.
- Perform structural modeling and analysis using platforms such as RISA 3D, RISA Foundation, RISA
Connection, and Hilti Profis.
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE-7, AISC 360, and ACI 318.
- Oversee drafting and design development within Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
- Engineer equipment support structures, foundations, masonry, and light-framed systems.
- Lead design coordinators and drafting staff on large-scale project assignments.
- Coordinate with architects, designers, and contractors throughout design and construction.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and conduct site visits and inspections.
Job Requirements -
-. Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Active NCEES-issued Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, RISA, or comparable structural design software.
- Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE-7, AISC 360, ACI 318, and related industry codes.
- Familiarity with standard structural concepts, practices, and procedures used throughout the
engineering field.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Availability for occasional overnight travel.
