Job description

POSITION: Mason Laborer/Operator
*Must be at least 18 years of age.
*Must have a valid driver license and a clean driving record.

Company: Benchmark Masonry, Inc.
Work Location: Across Montana
Travel Requirement: at least 90% of the time by company vehicle.
Position: Laborer/Operator
Wage: Starting Wage of $25/Hr.
Description: The Laborer is responsible for assisting Masons by performing a variety of general labor tasks including stocking materials and constructing scaffolds, and supporting jobsite operations as needed. This position also includes operation of company vehicles, snow removal equipment, and construction equipment as required. This position reports directly to the Foreman. Laborers are encouraged to keep all lines of communication open with the Foreman.
Essential Functions:
  • Set up, tear down, and clean-up of job sites.
  • Use power tools including drills, grinders, saws, and other company-owned tools.
  • Construction of scaffolding or other workstation structures.
  • Maintain and keep clean all equipment used.
  • Clean working surfaces and perform site maintenance and cleanup.
  • Participating in and collaborating with the crew during daily meetings to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are set.
  • Shape brick, block, or stone in preparation for final setting with use of brick hammers and/or power saws.
  • Operate company vehicles, skid steers, telehandlers, mini-excavators, and other construction equipment as assigned.
  • Perform snow removal operations, including operating trucks with plows, front-end loaders, or skid steers to clear commercial and residential lots safely.
  • Complete all tasks with pride of ownership and quality.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Foreman.
  • Must be able to follow instructions precisely, and work with others in an organized manner.
  • Work in high, precarious places such as scaffolding and ladders.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel in a repetitive motion; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, including working on hands and knees for extended periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 120 pounds.
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat or cold.
  • Follows all company standards based on the employee handbook, drug & alcohol policy, and safety policies.
  • This role is based out of Lewistown, MT office, but travel to projects will be required with this position. Either positioned at the out-of-town project for the duration, or travel on a regular basis will be required. Work related travel expenses are covered by the Company.

Experience and Skills Desired:
  • The applicant must be 18 years of age.
  • Experience in construction and heavy equipment operation is required.
  • Experience operating front-end loaders, mini-excavators, and skid steers required.
  • Required to have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • CDL preferred.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely in winter conditions including snow, ice, and low-visibility environments.
  • Reliable and hardworking.
  • Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the public always.
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Confident in English and Spanish languages.
  • Clean criminal background as we work on secure state and federal facilities.
