What is a martech consultant?

Martech Consultants are professionals who help organizations select, implement, and optimize marketing technology (martech) solutions to improve marketing performance. They assess a company's marketing needs, recommend suitable software and tools, and assist with integrating these technologies into existing processes. Martech Consultants also provide guidance on data strategy, automation, analytics, and digital transformation to ensure marketing efforts are efficient and effective. Their expertise bridges the gap between marketing and IT, enabling companies to leverage technology for better customer engagement and ROI.

How does a martech consultant typically collaborate with marketing and IT teams within an organization?

Martech Consultants often serve as a crucial bridge between marketing and IT teams, facilitating communication to ensure marketing goals align with technical capabilities. They work closely with marketers to understand campaign objectives and recommend appropriate technology solutions, while also partnering with IT to implement, integrate, and maintain these platforms. This collaborative approach helps streamline workflows, maximize ROI, and ensure data integrity across systems. Effective collaboration often involves regular meetings, clear documentation, and ongoing training for both teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a martech consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Martech Consultant, you need expertise in marketing strategy, data analytics, and a thorough understanding of digital marketing channels, usually supported by a relevant degree and experience in marketing or technology. Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (such as HubSpot, Marketo, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud), CRM systems, and certifications like Google Analytics or platform-specific credentials are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, communication, and the ability to manage client relationships are vital soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure you can design, implement, and optimize technology solutions that drive marketing effectiveness and client success.

Job description

Who We Are

Stitch is the global leader in helping brands drive CRM performance through Braze and Databricks. We work with Fortune 1000 brands to design and execute martech-driven solutions and lifecycle marketing strategies that drive meaningful outcomes. Our fast-growing team spans the US, UK, and Canada.

Weโ€™re actively building the best customer relationship marketing (CRM) consultancy in the world. Not the biggestโ€”the best. Weโ€™re looking for teammates who are energized by this challenge.

The Role

As a Senior Marketing Strategist, you are helping customers reshape the modern martech stack by simplifying how brands connect first-party data, orchestrate dynamic journeys, and unlock true customer-centric marketing. You will work with enterprise marketers and data leaders to build scalable, privacy-first architectures that power personalization at scale.

We are looking for a Senior Marketing Strategist who thrives at the intersection of technology, data, and customer experience. You will act as a visionary martech leader that defines the end-to-end roadmap for how brands will shift their marketing stacks to orchestration and broaden their use of Braze and the martech ecosystem to design, optimize, and measure customer journeys. You will translate complex data signals into strategic blueprints and act as a trusted advisor to marketing and technology leaders.

Who You Are

First and foremost, youโ€™re motivated by impact. To be the best CRM consultancy in the world, we have to be motivated by performanceโ€”both in how our work drives outcomes for our customers, and for how our work drives outcomes for Stitch.

This means youโ€™re not content with status quoโ€”youโ€™re always looking towards whatโ€™s next and seeking opportunities to grow yourself, grow our customers, and grow Stitch. You have relentless standards and uphold them unapologetically. You move nimbly, take ownership, drive things forward, and make the people around you better. If this sounds like you, you will thrive here.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Partner with Solution Consultants on discovery and assessment of clientsโ€™ existing martech environmentsโ€”auditing capability gaps, integration health, technology debt, and platform utilization.
  • Partner with Client Partners and Solution Consultants to develop multi-year martech roadmaps that sequence investments across data infrastructure, platform consolidation, activation capability, and analytics maturityโ€”aligned to business goals and customer experience priorities.
  • Prepares martech adoption and activation roadmaps, advising clients on how to unlock martech capabilities to the fullest, in alignment with business and marketing objectives.
  • Produce impact valuations for strategic recommendations, providing clients with quantitative estimations of realized business impact.
  • Build use-case prioritization frameworks using quantitative scoring models that weigh business value, technical feasibility, and measurable customer impact.
  • Partner with technology vendors (Braze, Segment, Databricks and others) to maintain platform intelligence and translate vendor roadmaps into client opportunity.
  • Lead sessions with Client Partners and Solution Architects to help clients understand how to transform their martech investments from SaaS to a consumption model purpose-built to advance client goals.
  • Lead end-to-end journey mapping โ€” from discovery workshops through current-state/future-state maps โ€” defining personas, moments of truth, channel touchpoints, and data signals to surface experience gaps and prioritize improvements.
  • Design trigger-based, always-on, and lifecycle journey experiences across email, SMS, push, and in-app channels.
  • Develop journey governance frameworks, testing roadmaps, and maturity assessments that help clients scale and optimize programs without accumulating architectural debt.
  • Design marketing analytics and KPI architectures that connect campaign-level metrics to business outcomes, including experimentation frameworks and performance narratives that enable data-backed investment decisions.
  • Leverage first-party data, behavioral signals, and CDP/CRM data to develop audience segmentation strategies, lifecycle stage definitions, and personalization frameworks.
  • Synthesize complex performance data from platforms such as Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Adobe Experience Platform and turn them into actionable strategic recommendations.
  • Build and present executive-ready business cases for martech investments โ€” including ROI modeling, value realization roadmaps, and strategic narratives that translate complex technology into clear action.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to VP and C-level stakeholdersโ€”anticipating client challenges, identifying where additional Stitch capabilities can solve unmet client needs, partnering with Client Partners to strengthen longโ€‘term client relationships.
  • Participate in QBRs and EBRs to help Client Partners sequence journey investments, technology enablers, and capabilityโ€‘building milestones for clients.
  • Contribute to Stitchโ€™s internal methodology: creating reusable frameworks, assessment tools, and workshop guides that raise the standard of every client engagement.
  • Author or contribute to thought leadershipโ€”LinkedIn, Webinars, and Braze Eventsโ€”that position Stitch as the leading voice in modern martech strategy.
  • Manage your time to meet billable targets of 36+ hours per week.
  • Travel up to 20% for client meetings, workshops, and onsite engagements.
What Success Looks Like
  • Clients see you as a trusted strategic advisorโ€”not just a campaign recommender. They come to you for perspective on their broader marketing strategy.
  • Your strategic frameworks, journey maps, and roadmaps are reusable and teachable. Other strategists reference your work.
  • You are building a recognized area of deep strategic expertise that clients and teammates specifically seek you out for.
  • You are driving strategic conversations at the executive level within client organizations.
  • Your mentorship is producing visible results: team members you work with are leveling up their strategic skills.
What You Bring
  • Deep fluency in CRM roadmap development, customer journey mapping methodologies, lifecycle marketing, and omnichannel orchestration.
  • Handsโ€‘on familiarity with two or more enterprise martech platformsโ€”Braze, Segment, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Experience Platform, Tealium, or equivalent.
  • Independently builds analysis from dashboards, reports, and experiment results. Makes recommendations without guidance.
  • Participates credibly in martech stack discussions, understanding how composability impacts Braze activations.
  • Strong analytical foundationโ€”comfortable working with large datasets, building performance models, and deriving strategy from data.
  • Designs experimentation frameworks tied to business outcomes, not just engagement metrics.
  • Exceptional storytelling capabilities, with the ability to appropriately adjust communication methods and content based on the intended audience, ranging from individual contributors to executives. Translate complex subjects and material into digestible content that provides clarity and is tailored to the intended stakeholder audience.
  • Strong executive presence. Confident under pressure, demonstrating sound judgment with an ability to take a position and hold it when challenged while maintaining composure at all times. You show up on camera polished and professional.
  • Specialized strategic experience within a category relevant to work at Stitch. For example: loyalty strategy, data strategy, or industryโ€‘specific strategy experience (QSR, Retail, Media & Communications, etc.).
How You Consult
  • Translate data and strategic complexity into business language clients can act on. Lead meetings that drive decisions, not just updates.
  • Build relationships at multiple levels. Communicate effectively with Cโ€‘suite, project leads, and technical teams.
  • Present recommendations with rationale and tradeoffs, not just analysis.
  • Manage strategic scope confidently. Know when to push the client's thinking further and when to meet them where they are.
  • Own outcomes. Lead without being asked. Identify what needs doing and do it.
  • Mentor and provide feedback for other Marketing Strategists. Share feedback with peers regularly that makes all of us better.
Tools Youโ€™ll Use
  • BI and analytics platforms
  • Experimentation and research tools
  • ClickUp, Slack, Google Suite
  • Braze, Segment, Databricks
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in dataโ€‘driven marketing strategy, CRM, martech consulting, or digital transformation roles.
  • Demonstrated track record building and presenting multiโ€‘year roadmaps to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience facilitating executive discovery workshops, business prioritization sessions, and strategic planning engagements.
  • Clientโ€‘facing experience within an agency or consultancy required.
  • Net new platform implementation experience preferred: you've contributed to building a lifecycle marketing strategy from the ground up as part of an initial deployment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, Canada or United Kingdom without visa sponsorship.
  • Flexible PTO policy
  • Paid Sick Time
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Monthly tech stipend
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid bereavement leave
  • Mental wellโ€‘being support
  • Inโ€‘person onboarding experience during your first week at our HQ in Indianapolis, Indiana
