Job description

Market America, a Global Product Brokerage and Internet Marketing company that specializes in One-to-One Marketing, is seeking an experienced Mandarin Chinese Translation Specialist.

Position Summary

Performs written Chinese/English translation for corporate business and marketing materials. Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment to achieve departmental and personal goals. Will work with Product, Legal, IT, PR, Event, Multi-Media, and Executive Management Teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides written translation in the language pair of English and Chinese for subject matters including but not limited to white papers, catalogs, magazines, marketing materials, video subtitles, power points, website content, company policies, business programs, etc.
  • Proofreads and edits translation to ensure its accuracy, contextual relevance, and cultural sensitivity
  • Works with various departments on localizations in both source and target languages
  • Builds and maintains glossaries of the most used Chinese dialects for all market countries
  • Follows translation, departmental, company SOPs

Education and Experience

  • Native Chinese speakers preferred
  • Bachelors degree
  • Three to five years of experience in Chinese/English written translation, interpretation, proofreading of legal, scientific, financial, advertising, and/or marketing materials preferred
  • Or combination of equivalent experience, education, and training.

Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both languages
  • Proficient in computer software and applications such as MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Internal workflow tools.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability; excellent organizational and time management skills; attention to details; self-motivated and coachable on Market America specific translation workflows, styles and standards
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a team
