Job Description

A lot of people think health insurance could be better. At Wellmark, we agree.

That’s why we’re working to make health care coverage more affordable, easier to access, and simpler to use - so the people we serve get the care they need with confidence.

As a Marketing Strategy Manager, you will shape how we connect with key audiences, accelerate performance across channels, and drive growth in a competitive and highly regulated market. This role serves as a strategic partner across the organization, bringing together customer insights, market intelligence, business objectives, and performance data to inform decisions and guide marketing direction. You’ll collaborate closely with teams across marketing, communications, analytics, and business functions to develop integrated strategies that strengthen our market position, support organizational priorities, and create value for customers and stakeholders. This role requires someone who can think beyond individual tactics and channels to bring forward data-informed strategies to drive measurable outcomes.
The ideal candidate is a strategic marketer who can turn complex business challenges into clear, data-driven marketing strategies that drive meaningful outcomes. You connect customer insights, market trends, and business priorities to identify opportunities and craft value propositions that deliver results. You’re experienced applying modern marketing techniques across channels and touchpoints and can contribute fresh ideas that help advance the team’s impact. You build strong partnerships and establish credibility quickly, serving as a trusted collaborator across a variety of stakeholders, often leading through influence rather than authority.  You combine analytical thinking with creativity, translating data into strategic ideas, facilitating conversations, and delivering compelling recommendations to leadership. Above all, you bring a customer-centered mindset, strong marketing acumen, and a passion for using strategy and insights to create results that matter.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, or direct and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in brand, performance, or digital marketing, with progressive responsibility for developing marketing strategies.
  • Analytical and strategic thinker who synthesizes and translates business insights into clear recommendations and effective marketing strategies.
  • Understanding of marketing measurement and analytics to evaluate performance and inform decisions that improve marketing effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated track record of owning and delivering measurable marketing and business outcomes through data-informed decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and persuasively present recommendations and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to serve as a strategic advisor, partnering with stakeholders to frame decisions, prioritize opportunities, and align on paths to achieve business goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive, self-directed professional with strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills; effectively manages multiple initiatives and adapts to evolving business needs and market conditions.
  • Ability build and maintain effective relationships with peers, stakeholders, and external partners to drive results.
  • Proficiency with marketing technology platforms to execute and optimize elements of marketing campaigns.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AI-enabled productivity tools, including Copilot, to support efficient content development, analysis, and communication.

Preferred:

  • Experience developing customer-centric, omnichannel marketing strategies that deliver personalized experiences across the buyer journey.
  • Experience marketing to consumer or business audiences for health insurance, insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience working with third-party sales channels as a growth driver.
  • Experience with account-based marketing (ABM) programs and platforms.
  • Advanced degree.
