ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct the solicitation efforts of the sales staff through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel.
  • Interview, hire, train, conduct performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and disciplinary actions and/or termination of the sales staff when appropriate.
  • Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and Crescent standards of performance are met. Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement.
  • Provide day to day leadership to sales associates to achieve property sales objectives with overall responsibility for achieving booking goals and property revenues.
  • Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Department to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly Forecast, Marketing Budget, Lead Management System, Booking Reports, STAR reports and Sales Meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to identify market trends and related information for development of innovative marketing strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve revenue potential from various markets and demand segments.
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients. Internally promote Crescent programs.
  • Meet with and entertain clients, some of which will require travel.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear directions to the staff.
  • Strategic preparation of computerized annual Sales & Marketing Plan and execute plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by changing market conditions.
  • Source, cultivate and manage Business Transient accounts (corporate and local negotiated), ensuring strong relationships with key clients and solid production from each account.
  • Manage the sales RFP process.
  • Ensure the property is positioned as a market leader within the competitive set.
  • Successful completion of all Marriott required Sales and Marketing opening tasks, by the predetermined deadlines.
  • Implement service strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the sales process and focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of the hotel’s’ sales objectives.
  • Manage the marketing budget to enable development of property specific campaigns, promotions and collateral to drive revenue and meet property objectives. Interface with regional marketing communications for regional and national promotions pull through.
  • Develop, execute and oversee the property social media strategy.
  • Work closely with property revenue management leader and corporate revenue management team to ensure strategic alignment. 
  • Develop and implement property–wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the hotels target customer profile and property associates and provides a return on investment to the owner.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Director of Sales & Marketing in a luxury lifestyle hotel is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a luxury full-service Marriott hotel is required.
  • 3-5 years’ prior experience in the Scottsdale, AZ market is HIGHLY preferred.
  • Ability to travel as needed is required.
