About the Role:

As the VP, Marketing Science & Analytics you will lead and manage a team of 10 to drive business growth through data. The role includes broad responsibility for centralizing customer segmentation strategy for media activation and growth, marketing analytics and BI, privacy and regulatory compliance, ad operations, and programmatic media strategy and activation. Your role is pivotal in shaping our marketing science vision, fostering innovation, and ensuring seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role owns and drives the data-driven marketing vision within the marketing team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead a team of 10+, while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of marketing science talent.
  • Follow all company and team guidelines and processes regarding talent management and team goal setting, tracking, and attainment.

2. Relationship Building, Strategic Planning, and Enterprise Alignment:

  • Build/maintain strong relationships with data, engineering, finance, and other team leaders in and outside of marketing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to provide consistent, reliable metrics, support decision-making, and guide strategic planning.
  • Communicate plans effectively and secure enterprise alignment for initiatives.

3. Data-driven Activation - Programmatic Media Channels and Audience Strategy:

  • Responsible for programmatic media, optimizing audience strategy for effective marketing campaigns, and developing optimization feedback loops from program data.
  • Develop new data product capabilities to automate workflows that power programmatic media and data collection. Building for scale, while remaining flexible to accommodate different use cases and business goals.

4. Customer Segmentation and Marketing Automation:

  • Develop customer segmentation approach for audience selection, including technical requirements for managing audiences, and strategies for personalized marketing activation and improved customer experience.
  • Drive marketing automation around customer lifecycle touchpoints to enhance customer insights and business predictions for Next Best Actioning.

5. Marketing Analytics and Business Intelligence:

  • Lead marketing attribution efforts, including the integration of lift measurement, econometric modeling, and channel measurement to assess the impact of various marketing channels and guide optimization decisions.
  • Develop and refine strategies for measuring the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and optimizing budget/time allocation.
  • Own all reporting and insights generation for the marketing department, assessing stakeholder needs and establishing the right reporting cadence and depth of insight to meet daily business decision making requirements.
  • Compiles roll-up reports for department-wide view of business unit performance for team business review meetings, partner reporting needs, ELT meetings, board presentations, and other ad-hoc needs.
  • Works closely with the consumer insights team to make proactive recommendations to marketing stakeholders and goes beyond reporting metrics to providing business context and explanations for material changes in the data over time (including technical measurement issues or methodology changes).
  • Effectively communicate marketing measurement methodology to and aligns with cross functional partners.

6. Ad Operations, Privacy, Legal Compliance, and Martech Strategy:

  • Take ownership of ad operations to ensure seamless execution of advertising campaigns.
  • Ensure privacy and legal compliance in all marketing activities, staying abreast of industry regulations and internal process changes.
  • Develop and implement Martech (Marketing Technology) strategies aligned with marketing science goals.
  • Oversee the evaluation and integration of marketing technologies to enhance efficiency.

7. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry-standard processes and new technologies (especially AI) in marketing science and implement improvements as needed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing data analysis.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant field (e.g., Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or other science).
  • 20+ years of experience in marketing science, value measurement, audience profiling, performance media, and experience with AI tools
  • Tech-driven Healthcare and/or Retail experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics for marketing data interpretation and modeling.
  • Experience in pipeline management to ensure data flow and integrity.
  • Proficiency in data visualizations to effectively communicate marketing insights.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a marketing science team.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with ability to find truth through data and use that understanding to drive organizational alignment from within marketing.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet marketing goals
