In the role of Area Market Sector Leader, we'll count on you to:
 

Staff Development

Recruit, select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel. 

Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams. 

Supervise senior engineers and business class leaders (assumed in the 2-8 person range). 

Technical Excellence

Participate in delivery of project services through planning, design, and construction phases to meet client expectations, including project management.

Function as a project manager and lead critical area and regional projects. 

See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management. 

Participate in delivery of project services to meet client expectations. 

Support development of technical experts. 

Participate in business class practice and professional discipline groups, project teams and activities to continually improve standards and best practices, and implement effective quality assurance and quality control reviews. 

Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews where appropriate, or assist technical teams in finding appropriate reviewers. 

Operations Leadership

Implement, monitor, and support company policy. 

Take responsibility for operations including utilization, morale, quality control and marketing support. 

Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections

Take responsibility for area coordination, monitoring and improvement of technical competencies of business class staff and products. 

Collaborate on business class efforts with area operations, marketing, project managers, and project delivery staff.

Marketing and Strategy

Drive vision and strategic planning for market sector disciplines

Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews

Develop and lead technical and marketing initiatives. 

Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues

Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts

Perform other duties as needed

Additional Primary Responsibilities:  Will require in-person participation in office on a weekly basis.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years water resources leadership experience including staff supervisory experience

Professional registration or license.

Strong communication and listening skills

Ability to handle multiple assignments

Good leadership and organizational skills

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits
  • Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
