About Palouse Habitat for Humanity
Palouse Habitat for Humanity (PHFH) is a local nonprofit organization and affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International serving Whitman County, WA, and Latah County, ID. Guided by the belief that everyone deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home, we partner with individuals, businesses, faith communities, and volunteers to strengthen neighborhoods and create opportunities for families to build brighter futures.
Since 2009, Palouse Habitat has helped 35 local families achieve affordable homeownership and is now working toward a goal of building three homes annually. Every Habitat home represents stability, opportunity, and a foundation for future generations.
In addition to new home construction, our Home Repair Program helps neighbors remain safe and independent in their homes. What began in 2013 as a small accessibility initiative has grown into a year-round program that installs ramps, handrails, and other critical improvements for residents.
Habitat families are selected based on need, willingness to partner, and ability to repay an affordable mortgage. Homeownership participants invest hundreds of hours of "sweat equity" alongside volunteers and staff, helping build not only their own homes but also stronger communities. Habitat's model is a hand-up, not a handout.
The work of Palouse Habitat is made possible through generous support from donors, grants, businesses, churches, civic organizations, fundraising events, and the Palouse Habitat ReStore. Each year, hundreds of volunteers contribute thousands of hours of service through construction projects, home repairs, fundraising events, committee work, and the ReStore.

Why Marketing Matters

As Palouse Habitat continues to grow, effective storytelling and community engagement are more important than ever. We are working to increase awareness of our programs, expand volunteer involvement, strengthen donor relationships, grow support for the ReStore, and ensure that families who may qualify for our services know help is available. Revenue generated through the ReStore helps fund affordable homeownership opportunities and home repair programs throughout the Palouse, making it an important part of our mission.
The Marketing Intern will help tell the stories of homeowners, volunteers, donors, and community partners whose efforts are transforming lives across the Palouse. Through social media, digital communications, photography, event promotion, and content creation, the intern will gain valuable hands-on experience while helping build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
