Job description

Career Development and Marketing Coordinator
St. Ambrose University is seeking a Career Development and Marketing Coordinator to join our Academic and Career Planning (ACP) team.
The Career Development and Marketing Coordinator supports the career readiness initiatives for both the Cedar Rapids and Davenport campuses through employer engagement, student programming, marketing communications and event coordination. This position develops and promotes events, and experiential learning opportunities that enhance student engagement and post-graduation outcomes. The coordinator collaborates with academic departments, employers, alumni, and campus partners to strengthen career development programming and increase visibility of Academic and Career Planning (ACP) services. This position will supervise student assistants and work with a small caseload of undecided students to assist in their major and career exploration and course scheduling. Travel, on average 2-6 times/month, will be required between both campuses.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and support career development programming for undergraduate and graduate students on all campuses.
  • Assist students with career readiness topics including resumes, cover letters, interviewing, networking, internship searches, and job search strategies.
  • Teach and facilitate career-readiness course
  • Lead and manage all campus ACP events, presentations and programming.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic advisors to encourage career-readiness integration during individual advising meetings.
  • Create and promote experiential learning opportunities, such as internships, job shadowing, and mentoring programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of current employment trends, career development best practices, and workforce needs.
  • Collaborate with student assistants to create digital and print promotional materials including flyers, newsletters, social media content, email campaigns, and website updates.
  • Manage all ACP social media accounts and develop a content calendar.
  • Support students and supervisors with on-campus employment needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, and community partners to enhance our career development and employment opportunities.
  • Plan, communicate, and host career fairs, resume clinics, alumni panels, and other career-readiness events.
  • Partner with alumni relations, student organizations and campus departments to co-sponsor career-related initiatives and increase student and employer use of Handshake.
  • Serve as an ACP Advisor by providing academic advising, career exploration, and course selection guidance for a caseload of undecided students.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to advising appointments and employer and student engagement and event outcomes.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student assistants on front desk responsibilities, interacting with office guests (student, faculty, staff, employers) and how to provide educational and growth-oriented feedback on resumes, cover letters and Linked-In Profiles.
  • Become a university expert user of Handshake, ACP's career and appointment management software.
  • Assist with assessment efforts, data collection, and annual reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across all campuses to ensure alignment and effective cross organizational operations.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, communications, marketing, business, or related field.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with social media management, marketing tools, and digital communications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse student populations, faculty, staff, employers, and community partners.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, business, marketing, or related field.
  • Three years or more professional experience in career services, marketing, communications, student services, or related areas.
  • Familiarity with Handshake and NACE career readiness competencies.
  • Event planning and employer relations experience.
