Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The School of Communication at Chapman University is seeking two enthusiastic and motivated Student Office Assistants to support the school's day-to-day operations. These student workers will collaborate closely with the Marketing, Communication, and Event Coordinator to assist with social media content creation, event planning and logistics, and general office functions. This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop professional skills in communications, marketing, and event management within a dynamic academic environment.
Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation
Create engaging content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Assist with writing, editing, and publishing posts for the School of Communication blog.
Design graphics, reels, and promotional materials using Canva.
Support the development and execution of social media campaigns aligned with school initiatives.
Event Planning & Logistics
Assist with planning and coordinating School of Communication events.
Utilize 25Live (after provided training) to reserve and manage event spaces.
Support event setup, teardown, and cleanup before and after events.
May be required to be present at school or School of Communication events on weekend days; advance notice will always be provided, and hours will remain within the student's approved weekly limit.
Office & Administrative Support
Provide general clerical support, including copying, scanning, and filing.
Assist faculty and staff with administrative tasks as needed.
Manage office inventory, organization, and supply ordering.
Maintain an organized and welcoming office environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Marketing, Communication, and Event Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled as a Chapman University student in good academic standing.
Proficiency with social media platforms: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Experience using Canva or similar graphic design tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with content creation, video editing, or digital marketing.
Interest in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
Prior office, customer service, or event experience.
Familiarity with 25Live or other event scheduling platforms (training will be provided).
