What is a marketing contractor?

Marketing contractors are independent professionals or agencies hired by businesses to execute specific marketing projects or campaigns on a contract basis. Unlike full-time employees, they typically work for a set period or until the completion of a project. Their responsibilities can include tasks such as market research, digital marketing, content creation, advertising, and strategy development. Businesses often use marketing contractors to access specialized expertise, manage workload spikes, or reduce overhead costs. Marketing contractors may work remotely or onsite, depending on the client's needs.

The Marketing Manager is responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive, 360-degree marketing strategy that amplifies Marquee Arts’ programs, brand, and mission. This position leads the creation and execution of integrated campaigns, oversees promotional efforts from event conception to execution, and ensures all communications are consistent, compelling, and strategically aligned. The Marketing Manager plays a key role in public relations, brand storytelling, project management, and audience development, helping to grow revenue through both earned and contributed channels.

  • Craft and manage messaging that reflects the Marquee Arts’ brand, tone, and community engagement goals.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental input on marketing initiatives to ensure clarity and alignment across teams.
  • Write and distribute press releases, coordinate interviews, and manage media relations to boost organizational visibility.

Campaign Management & Promotion

  • Oversee all stages of campaign execution—from concept through delivery and post-analysis—for film, live events, donor engagement, and special initiatives.
  • Manage deadlines and deliverables with internal teams and external partners, including designers, printers, and media buyers.
  • Maintain relationships with media outlets, advertising platforms, and community partners to amplify reach.
  • Execute paid, earned, and organic promotion strategies that are results-driven, and audience focused.

Digital Marketing & Content Production

  • Develop and manage content for digital channels including email marketing, website, social media, and in-venue signage.
  • Support the Digital Brand and Social Media Manager to ensure content is current, responsive, and visually engaging.
  • Coordinate design needs with the contracted Graphic Designer or design internally as needed, ensuring brand standards are upheld.
  • Draft compelling copy for all promotional needs, including signage, printed collateral, online campaigns, donor communications, and press materials.

Analytics & Audience Engagement

  • Track and report on campaign performance, engagement metrics, and ROI using available tools (e.g., Google Analytics, email marketing platforms, CRM reports).
  • Analyze ticket sales data and market trends to inform targeting and message strategy.
  • Conduct audience surveys and gather community feedback to continually refine messaging and positioning.

Graphic Design & Branding

  • Design and produce visually engaging marketing materials for digital and print, including posters, flyers, brochures, banners, social graphics, signage, and playbills.
  • Create digital assets for websites, email campaigns, and digital advertisements while ensuring brand consistency.
  • Maintain brand guidelines and ensure a cohesive visual identity across all platforms.
  • Develop custom artwork and promotional materials for special events, fundraising campaigns, and retail initiatives (merchandise, swag, and concessions marketing).
  • Prepare and optimize files for print production, ensuring correct color profiles, resolution, and file formats.
  • Edit and enhance images for marketing use, including retouching and color correction.
  • Collaborate with marketing team and event organizers to conceptualize and execute show themes, campaigns, and seasonal branding.

Additional Duties

  • Participate in cross-departmental strategy meetings to align marketing efforts.
  • Assist in email marketing content creation and automation strategies.
  • Contribute to merchandise and concessions promotions through digital and print marketing.
  • Attend after-hours events, including weekends, for event coverage/photography/videography.
