Job Summary
Sr. Manager, Market Intelligence manages the development and execution of our market intelligence, market research, and competitive intelligence functions, to support downstream market strategy execution and measurement of its results. Will ensure timely and accurate development of market share monitoring (procedure trends and volumes and share data in the form of a domestic Market Fact Book). Will lead the function to deliver market analysis for new product market opportunities, support investor relations requests for TC, manage access to key market data sources, execute primary ad hoc market research, and monitor macro market conditions, competitor news and product launches that can impact the business. This role will also leverage the available Business Intelligence capabilities provided within the organization (OAC/Hyperion and Power BI, expanding to predictive and AI-based research in the future). The Sr. Manager, Market Intelligence will manage, mentor and coach others within the function.
Job Details/Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategy for alignment of market research needs, and subsequent strategic sourcing, across all TMC business units. Develop strategies to establish TMC Market Intelligence support across all TMC BUs within this function through dialogue with BU commercial leaders. Demonstrate value to the BUs via streamlined management of data and by creating close alignment between the BU and the Market Intelligence function.
  • Organize Market Intelligence deliverables, through own efforts and by managing the efforts of other team member(s). Provide functional direction, annual goals, and lead the execution of the department's strategic direction.
  • Provide coaching and development for the team members within the department, including performance management, career planning, and overall coaching.
  • Engage with business partners to support TIS market research and market intelligence data needs.
  • Establish best practice use of TAH's available BI tools to deliver actionable market intelligence data to commercial team members.
  • Identify, explore, and implement new technology, data sources, and software to bring greater efficiency and integrity to the management of market research functions. Stay current on analytic trends, including but not limited to AI and predictive analytics.
  • Develop reports to drive business decisions, and effectively present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders, both verbally and via graphs, charts and written word.
  • Utilize primary and secondary research strategies to develop accurate analysis related to the business.
  • Utilize available market data and team resources to develop US Market Models to estimate commercial market potential in current and projected future disease state categories.
  • Synthesize market data and implement best practices for the analysis and transformation into actionable insights.
  • Understand TMC business objectives and design primary market research studies accordingly to discover prospective customers' preferences.
  • Subject matter expert to help shape the Market Research approved supplier list, which includes 3rd party partners for both primary and secondary research methodologies. Contribute to the management with all vendors, at the direction of TAH management who owns those contracts, as well as with GBS Procurement team.
  • Work closely with Corporate Accounts senior leadership to develop their strategy (as related to data needs) and to identify market research data needs; may include insights required for GPOs and customer RFPs. Support TAH strategies requiringmarket research expenditures being negotiated on their behalf..
  • Own the strategies related to identifying and maintaining the TMC Market Research approved supplier list, which includes 3rd party partners for both primary and secondary research methodologies and help manage the relationship with all vendors.

Job Responsibilities (continued)
  • Set the direction for primary and secondary research strategies in close collaboration with BU leadership related to potential acquisition targets and new product development opportunities.
  • Participate in customer field visits as needed to support Market Intelligence goals.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with all TMC Quality Systems requirements. This includes but is not limited to the prompt recognition and forwarding of customer complaints (i.e. adverse events, product performance reports, etc.) to Quality Assurance (QA), and by ensuring all promotional messaging (i.e. branding strategies, product claims, etc.) and materials (i.e. literature) discussed or presented to customers are clinically accurate and adhere to AdvaMed guidelines and Terumo's policy on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals. Maintain strong knowledge of and adherence to regulations regarding promotional material content and control. Follow procedures for good clinical practices and Design Control when participating in new product development and clinical activities. Fully adhere to all applicable FDA regulations, international guidelines and Terumo's policies at all times.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present data and recommendations to key stakeholders, to include upper management.
  • Proficiency with analytic tools such as OBIEE or Power BI, and demonstrated ability to interpret large amounts of data as well as excellent knowledge of secondary research resources and tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of data collection methods (polls, focus groups, surveys, etc.), data warehousing, modeling, and mining.
  • High level of analytical skills to accurately capture market data and inputs, assess the statistical significance, and translate these into strategic business recommendations.
  • Ability to understand complex medical procedures and engage in in-depth technical conversations with physicians, staff and key opinion leaders regarding disease states, medical procedures, and treatment algorithms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and iPad navigation.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and be flexible enough to change priorities with short notice when necessary.
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills and teamwork working cross-functionally.
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor others.

Qualifications/ Background Experiences
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing, Finance, Statistics, or related field, and a minimum of 10 years of overall business experience with 7 years of direct market research and/or marketing analytics experience, preferably in the medical device manufacturing industry; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience implementing projects and leading cross-functional teams required.
  • Strong knowledge of human anatomy, specifically the vascular and venous systems preferred.

Final compensation packages may be higher or lower than what is listed, and will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, internal equity, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
