The Opportunity
The Market Director, reporting directly to the GM/VP of Renewables business unit, is responsible for the growth, strategy, market positioning, and overall business development for Renewables. The Market Director is a key member of Ulteig Leadership Team who develops the enterprise strategic plans, initiatives and associated implementation plans. This is a people-leader role accountable for building, coaching, and developing a high-performing team, and creating a culture of high engagement, collaboration, and accountability. This individual will actively shape and drive collaboration within the team as well as across the broader organization, fostering alignment and ensuring collective progress toward shared goals. The Market Director ensures that Ulteig is well-positioned with clients and within the Renewables Lifeline Sector (LLS). This role leads out front as a thought leader in the Renewables industry and leads the market development efforts focusing both on new and existing clients. The Market Director demonstrates significant renewables market, business, sales/consulting acumen and experience.
What You will Do
  • Develops and executes annual Territory Sales Plan for the Renewables business.
  • Coaches, develops and provides direction to team members who have pipeline, client management and relationship accountabilities for prospective and current clients (direct reports and seller/doers)
  • With support of their team of Market Leaders and Inside Sales - presents, promotes and sells services and solutions related in the Renewables industry to existing and perspective clients
  • Engage dynamically with peer directors, the GM/VP, and shared services leadership to collaboratively architect and execute forward-looking LLS strategies, ensuring cross-departmental alignment on future growth objectives
  • Orchestrates and conducts analysis and assesses market potential - develop and execute Lifeline Sector plans that account for external (industry, competitive, client) dynamics and identifies the internal support (service, marketing, market communication, advertising, trade shows, SOQs, collateral, pricing, etc.) needed to deliver goals
  • Champion a consultative approach and lead with influence across the organization (Engineering/Operations, Strategic Growth & Marketing, Project Management) to present comprehensive, solutions-oriented service offerings to our partners
  • Exercise intellectual curiosity to anticipate industry shifts and identify emerging opportunities
  • Coordinates with fellow leaders inside the renewables business unit, and those in shared services, to execute on market strategy and operating business plan
  • Leads with influence across the organization (Engineering/Operations, Strategic Growth & Marketing, Proposals, Project Management, Finance, HR, Legal) to pursue, propose and win business
  • Partners with Marketing and Communications to ensure supporting marketing and communication content and channels are fully utilized
  • Partners with Strategic Growth and Insights team(s) to research and strategize on Ulteig's positioning in new and emerging markets
  • Protects and enhances Ulteig's resume, reputation and relationships (client and industry)
  • Serves as the Client Lead for select, significant clients
  • Establishes, achieves/exceeds sales targets and primary business development metrics: pipeline, orders, Client Experience Index and business development budget
  • In partnership with GM, the Market Director is ultimately accountable for commercial negotiation of Master Service Agreements
  • Stays informed of industry trends and best practices

What We Expect from You:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering; Master's degree preferred
  • 10 years of experience required in business development
  • Five years of people leadership experience with a track record of building adaptable, high-performing teams
  • Direct experience within the utility-scale Renewable (wind, solar, storage) sector
  • Demonstrated business development success in planning and executing account strategies
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of building enduring trust with strategic industry partners and internal colleagues
  • Exceptional ability to engage and collaborate with peer directors and executives to influence enterprise-wide, forward-thinking initiatives
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate, influence and collaborate with individuals at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to travel up to 50% (typically 5 to 8 nights/monthly)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with current and potential clients and internal colleagues
  • Established leader reputation in the renewables industry with a comprehensive understanding of the full project lifecycle, capable of anticipating and serving the nuanced, consultative needs of the variety of client types
  • Demonstrates excellent facilitation presentation, verbal/written communications, time-management, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to be organized, work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities with work projects
  • Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $186,600 - $252,600
